Bay Plumbing and Drainage is owned and operated by Matty and Sophie Brake. Both born and raised in Rotorua, Matty began his apprenticeship with a highly respected plumber and drainlayer here in Rotorua, where he spent most of his apprenticeship learning from the best. He then moved onto a larger firm in town to gain experience in larger projects and commercial work, including working at some of Rotorua’s largest commercial developments at the time. During this time he gained invaluable experience from his employer and his mentors of Certifying Plumbers, Drainlayers and Gasfitters. 

Once finishing his apprenticeship, Matty went on to complete a number of different courses such as, Solar Water installation, Geo-thermal heat exchanger installation and Back Flow testing, which is great knowledge to have behind him in the industry. His career journey took him back to his original employer where he went on to finally sit his certifying exam. 

Sophie’s background is in design, but whilst studying Interior Design, also had an administration position at a local plumbing company. With their experience combined, and after starting their own family, they decided that 2018 was the perfect time to start their own venture, enabling more flexibility around their growing family. Since then the business has expanded and Bay Plumbing and Drainage now has a wonderful team of Plumbers operating in the beautiful Bay Of Plenty.
